As a newcomer to WABCO, I am delighted to have this opportunity to address our industry. I come to this business from the trucking industry, so I am keenly aware of the competitive challenge we in the railroad industry face in trying to win modal share from my good friends in trucking. Virtually all sectors of our industry are enjoying strong demand right now. However, beyond cyclical ups and downs, real industry growth faster than GNP growth must come from increasing modal share. With its high flexibility, dependable deliveries and point-to-point speeds, the trucking industry is formidable competition.
