It isn't just Mother Nature; human nature is as extraordinarily powerful.Best leaders seek to unravel and then harness the complexities of human nature rather than collide with it, especially when it comes to safety. This means moving toward a place where natural safety comes quickest and easiest to people without trying to constantly fight uphill battles over others' personal inclinations or the ways humans are designed to move and accomplish tasks.I think of natural safety as safety processes and procedures that are in sync with human physiological design and inherent mental mechanisms for all people, regardless of age, race, country or gender. According to University of Berkeley's Understanding Science blog (2008):In practice, what's natural is often identified by testability. Natural things behave in predictable ways-though we may not yet fully understand them-which have observable outcomes. This predictability means that we can test hypotheses about natural entities by making observations.
