Study Finds Radioactive Waste Hexavalent Chromium in Water Causes Cancer in Lab Animals

When consumed in drinking water, chromium 6-known as hexavalent chromium-has been found to cause cancer in laboratory animals. National Toxicology Program (NTP) conducted a 2-year study that consisted of feeding male and female mice and rats four different doses of sodium dichromate dihydrate-an inorganic compound containing hexavalent chromium-which was contained in their drinking water.
