Steel Erection Rule Amended to Improve Highway Construction

To protect workers and motorists during highway bridge construction, OSHA has added a notification to its Steel Erection standard to inform employers of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements. Some of FHWA's conditions include requiring employers involved in National Highway System construction projects to comply with various standards, policies and specifications published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and encouraging compliance with AASHTO specifications that FHWA regulations do not incorporate by reference.
