Study Finds Encouraging Trend Among Teen Drivers, Work Still Needed

A survey conducted by Bridgestone Americas Inc. has revealed an encouraging trend among teen drivers: Taking distracted driving risks is becoming socially unacceptable. However, this social pressure is not preventing teen drivers from engaging in those behaviors. According to the survey, which polled more than 2,000 drivers ages 16 to 21, 71% said that reading texts and e-mails is unacceptable while driving. However, 45% admitted to doing it themselves. Nearly 80% of respondents deemed sending texts and e-mails while driving unacceptable, yet 37% admitted to engaging in that behavior.
