REINAUER ENDS BUILDING PROGRAM WITH THIRD NEW ATB TUG AND MATCHING BARGE

Reinauer Transportation of New York has completed a multi-year building program involving construction of three new 7,200-hp tugs, and a trio of 150,000-barrel oil barges, with both tugs and barges linked together with an articulated coupler system. Delivered early this summer from Atlantic Marine in Jacksonville, Fla., was the 124-foot tug Meredith C. Reinauer and her matched clean-oil barge, RTC 150. They were preceded, at intervals, in the past three years by nearly identical tugs Nicole C. Reinauer and Christian Reinauer. (See ATR 2002 for more details on all these vessels.) Reinauer is also taking delivery this year of two new z-drive tractor tugs for its subsidiary, Boston Towing & Transportation. The first of those 4,000-hp ship-assist vessels was delivered in March, while the second is expected over the summer. (See New tractors brighten up Boston waterfront on page 19.)
