Z-drive technology continues to penetrate almost all aspects of the U.S. tugboat industry. This spring, what may be the first U.S. z-drive tugboat dedicated to handling bunker fuel barges was introduced for service in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Harbor Fuel Service Inc. of San Juan introduced its 94-foot 3,100-hp tug, Don Alfredo, in April after a prolonged construction process at Orange Shipbuilding, Orange, Texas.
