Ever-changing legislation can make it challenging for managers to keep up to speed on the employment rights of staff. When the Work and Families Act 2006 reached the statute books, organisations had to prepare for the impact of new family-friendly provisions designed to give more choice to parents in balancing work and caring responsibilities.rnThe planned extension of the statutory maternity pay period to 52 weeks has been postponed but the introduction of additional paternity leave and pay is to be introduced from 2011.
