Alcohol consumption in pubs declined by 6 per cent in 2009, a downward trend recorded in four out of the last five years by the British Beer and Pub Association.rnIt's the sharpest decline in alcohol consumption in pubs in over 60 years, according to the association. But do the statistics tell the whole story?rnIn the workplace, at least, the picture is more complicated. Whilst overall, the International Labour Office estimates that globally three to five per cent of the average workforce is alcohol dependent and up to 25 per cent drink enough to be at risk of dependence, the effects are not spread evenly.
