The review of the Codes of Conduct within the CMI and the Institute of Consulting continues to progress through its consultation stages. The recent white paper, Managers and the moral maze, reported on a poll survey on workplace ethics. It found that whereas two-thirds of managers want to be seen as ethical, they are regularly under pressure to act contrary to their core values and beliefs, sometimes bending the rules for their own self-interest or because of undue pressure from their organisation (Autumn, page 10).
