The fallout from Tesco's gigantic profits overstatement continued into the new year. Newly installed chief executive Dave Lewis has seen his 'Drastic Dave' moniker from Unilever follow him to his new role as he seeks to revive the supermarket juggernaut. Insights reported how Lewis plans a radical overhaul on the firm's in-store middle management structure as well as slashing the number of jobs at its head offices. Worse still for Tesco was confirmation that it would close over 40 unprofitable stores in the UK, while shelving plans for almost 50 more - some of which were well into the construction process, resulting in Tesco needing to compensate local councils.
