THE UK IS facing a skills shortage. Indeed, the latest research from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills found that 14% of companies in the UK were facing a skills gap and almost one in five (19%) currently had vacancies in their workforce that needed to be filled. Employers are struggling to fill 23% of these vacancies because of a lack of applicants with the necessary skills to properly carry out the role.
