A Sony survey of European IT, broadcast and telecoms companies suggests that to survive in the future, businesses must adopt a culture of re-invention. "Once upon a time, order was good, the future predictable," says the voiceover on Sony's anycastworld.com website, where four well-rehearsed scenarios for tomorrow's television are identified: ,E-tv (enhanced TV), home network, a mobile information society, and a PC-centric future. "Our scenarios represent an industry consensus but are not mutually exclusive," says Sony BPE president Miles Flint. "We're rapidly concluding that the future will be about getting any content to any device, which has a resonance for all broadcasters. What they do won't be replaced, but their business won't stay the same either."
