Survey of MRP II implementation and benefits in Mainland China and Hong Kong

摘要

Manufacturing resources planning (MRP II) systems are being used by an increasing number of manufacturing companies in Mainland China and Hong Kong. The current status of MRP II implementation and benefits among manufacturing companies in Hong Kong and China is reported. On the basis of survey responses from 109 manufacturing companies, preliminary analysis indicate that in companies in Hong Kong and China there is variation in the degree of top management involvement, formality of the implementation process, characteristics of the manufacturing process, and functional area involvement in the implementation process and that these factors affect the perceived benefits of using MRP II.
