Health Canada Testing Finds Jewelry With Lead

Health Canada November 28 said its periodic testing of children's jewelry found Mood Chain anklets and necklaces with excessive lead levels. The agency said that approximately 12,000 pieces of the jewelry - which change color with the temperature -sold from 2006 to November 2008. It said it knows of no incidents associated with the items, and it urged consumers to throw them out "in normal household trash." The Canadian Hazardous Product Act bans items sold for children under age 15 that contain more than 600 mg/kg total lead and 90 mg/kg of migratable lead.
