Semantic memory—the process with which people recall conceptual information—underlies the ability to identify object categories, such as fruits, and the ability to recognize thematic relationships between objects, such as that between an apple and a worm. Yet the neurological basis underlying semantic memory remains unclear, prompting Myrna Schwartz et al. (pp. 8520-8524) to attempt to pinpoint the brain regions involved in it.
