摘要

The eccentric arrangement of shear walls in wooden houses is proved to be one of the important factors for their seismic damage. An eccentricity ratio is a good index to avoid unbalanced distribution of shear walls. It is pointed out that the eccentricity starts to affect the seismic performance when it exceeds 0.15. However, plenty of wooden houses with eccentricity ratios larger than 0.15 exist out there so that we have observed plenty of houses collapsed due to their eccentricity during the Hyogo-ken Nambu earthquake. The authors examine here the influence of the eccentric arrangement of shear walls on seismic Performance of wooden houses.
