This article makes a detailed study of the influence of harmonics and the average undulation number of roundness profiles on the load bearing ability of interference-fitted assemblies. For this purpose, a plan of experiments was prepared by taking 3^sup 2^ factorial design with interference and the average undulation number as parameters. The analysis reveals that both the parameters influence the load bearing ability of interference-fitted assemblies. Further, it is found that harmonics influence the load bearing ability of interference-fitted assemblies. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
