Briefing: Municipal engineering in Brazil

摘要

This paper presents a briefing on the development and the evolution of cities in Brazil, commenting on historical context, engineering teaching and practice, and infrastructure highlights. Infrastructure emphasises the challenges of energy generation and distribution, urban mobility and housing policies. The briefing also discusses the new legal base for innovative intervention processes, as master plans, participative planning and public-private partnerships that, in the next few years, will impact on city planning and managing.
