Autonomous surface vehicles on the horizon?

Anew set of acronyms is entering our vocabulary - UAV, UGV, USV and UUV, which stand for Unmanned (or Uninhabited if one wants to be gender neutral) Aerial, Ground, Surface and Underwater Vehicles, known collectively as UXV. The development of these vehicles has been advancing rapidly over the last decade, taking advantage of advances in materials, control and computing. They have varying degrees of autonomy from near total autonomy through supervisory control (typical of most UXV) to full teleportation.
