ON to Leave Thai Plants Off, Perhaps For Good

On Semiconductor (onsemiconductor.com) will not reopen its semiconductor probe, assembly and test operations in Thailand for an indefinite period, if at all, due to the severity of the flood damage, the company said Dec. 8. The site houses ON's Sanyo Semiconductor division and some of the former Catalyst Semiconductor products acquired in 2008. Production has been suspended since early October. The bulk of the company's Thailand operations will be permanently transferred to other ON facilities and to some external subcontractors as appropriate.
