PKC to Close Mexico Plant, Lay Off 700

Electronics manufacturer PKC Group is closing its factory here and transferring production to an existing facility in Torreon, Mexico. The closure is tied to lower demand for light vehicles in North America, the firm said. The Nogales site employs approximately 700 staff. The company expects to take about $4.9 million in charges after taxes. The EMS and wire harness manufacturer expects to reap annual savings of $2.7 million on an after-tax basis starting this year.
