While some crit- ics say the coal industry is on its way out, many in the business believe the exact opposite. Though new regulations will impose stricter limits on coal power plants, many say that coal is and will be a very important and necessary part of the energy mix now and in the future. Technological innovations and cleaner burning plants - such as Duke Energy's Edwardsport, Southern's Kem-per County, and Saskatchewan Power's Boundary Dam project - are just a few examples of how the industry is not only adapting but pushing forward.
