摘要

The interline power flow controller (IPFC) proposed is a newnconcept for the compensation and effective power flow management ofnmulti-line transmission systems. In its general form, the IPFC employs annumber of inverters with a common DC link, each to provide seriesncompensation for a selected line of the transmission system. Because ofnthe common DC link, any inverter within the IPFC is able to transfernreal power to any other and thereby facilitate real power transfer amongnthe lines of the transmission system. Since each inverter is also ablento provide reactive compensation, the IPFC is able to carry out annoverall real and reactive power compensation of the total transmissionnsystem. This capability makes it possible to equalize both real andnreactive power flow between the lines, transfer power from overloaded tonunderloaded lines, compensate against reactive voltage drops and thencorresponding reactive line power, and to increase the effectiveness ofnthe compensating system against dynamic disturbances. The paper explainsnthe basic theory and operating characteristics of the IPFC with phasorndiagrams, P-Q plots and simulated waveforms
