This paper presents various applications of a nonlinear adaptivennotch filter which operates based on the concept of an enhancednphase-locked loop (PLL). Applications of the filter for online signalnanalysis for power systems protection, control and power qualitynenhancement are presented. The proposed scheme can be applied for signalnanalysis both under stationary and nonstationary conditions. Based onndigital time-domain simulations, applications of the filter for (a)nsinusoidal waveform peak detection, (b) harmonicnidentification/detection, (c) detection/extraction of individualncomponents of a signal, (d) instantaneous reactive current extraction,n(e) disturbance detection, (f) noise reduction in zero-crossingsndetection, and (g) amplitude (phase) demodulation for flickernestimation, are presented
