摘要

Stringent import inspection measures have nearly crippled Nigeria's economy. Investors need to remain vigilant when dealing with West African ports, as Michael Dixon discovers. Nigeria's port industry has been abused for long enough. Mercedes and Jaguars concealed amongst cartons of cornflakes, drugs and weapons mixed with raw materials — custom officers were never sure what they would stumble on next. Wanting to make a stand, the Nigerian government announced in April this year that all cargo would be inspected upon arrival instead of, and sometimes as well as, before shipping.
