The first time Edward Peden saw his future home, it had three feet of water inside. He toured it in a canoe, using a flashlight to peer into the corners of its immense rooms. That was in 1983, the year Ed paid $40,000 to buy the abandoned missile silo where he and his wife, Dianna, now live.
