Searching for Water on Jupiter's Moon

Our blue planet Earth may not be the only object in the solar system with an abundance of liquid water. Recent photographs taken by the Galileo spacecraft are raising scientists' hopes that one of Jupiter's moons may have a life-sustaining ocean hidden beneath its surface. One of four Jovian satellites that can be spotted from Earth with a good pair of binoculars, the ice-covered moon Europa is slightly smaller than Earth's moon. Europa was first photographed in detail by the twin Voyager flyby probes in 1979.
