A BUILT-IN BOOSTER SEAT

The government recommends that children 4 to 8 years old be strapped into a booster seat. So Volvo built a simple one directly into the backseats of its XC70 crossover and V70 wagon. The seat cushions become the boosters, raising to elevate small children. That properly aligns their bodies with the seat belts, which vary resistance according to the child's weight. Airbags above the windows extend 2.4 inches farther down to protect shorter riders.
