Every year, Americans toss away 9.1 billion single-serve beverage pods, so roasters are working to make them from biodegradable material instead of plastic. The greenest of the lot. the OneCup Bio by Rogers Family Company, is made primarily from corn and wood pulp and is 97 percent biodegradable. Rogers and another roaster, Canada-based Canterbury, are each working to replace the final part-a fine mesh filter-with organic material, which will render the pods 100-percent waste-free.
