With time winding down to a few scant weeks prior to our annual Engine Masters Challenge engine-building competition (as of this writing), many of our competitors are deep into the process of power testing on the dyno. In the Challenge, we score engines for the highest horsepower and torque over a full specified rpm range, this year from 3,000-7,000 rpm. With plenty on the line in terms of recognition and contingency prizes from the manufacturing sponsors, the race is on to find the power required to make it through as one of the six event finalists, and hopefully an outright win.
