OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF €5.8M EU FUNDED SHARED SPACE PROJECT AT NEWFORGE

The €5.8m EU funded shared space project at Newforge in South Belfast held its official launch recently. The project will be managed by the Newforge Community Development Trust (NCDT) and seeks to help address the high level of social segregation resulting from the troubles/conflict in the region. The project launch was opened by Superintendent Sue-Ann Steen, Police Service of Northern Ireland and Newforge Trustee, who welcomed attendees to the event and said: "We have been working on this project for almost 10 years. Our vision was, and remains, to develop new state of the art facilities, thereby using sport as a catalyst for community building and mutual understanding."
