摘要

This edited volume offers a valuable and timely contribution to the growing area of Arctic research. As the first step in a series of publications on the topic of Arctic urban sustainability, this volume presents the theoretical and conceptual foundations for understanding policies, economic and social processes, and implications of climate change for cities in the Russian north. This volume has been produced by authors working in different disciplinary areas. The 'added value' of this endeavor is the attempt to put the natural science, human geography, and policy-related perspectives in a dialogue, creating a unique interdisciplinary take on Arctic urban sustainability. The contributions to this volume are relevant for researchers working on a range of Arctic-related topics, as well as policy-makers interested in challenges for planning the future development of Arctic cities.
