Colin Dagnall, The Chiropodist, January 1956 In a letter published in The Chiropodist in January 1956, Colin Dagnall added the above comments to the brief obituary of my father, Walter Seelig, which had appeared in the December 1955 edition. Several years before, paving tribute my father on whose work he had drawn for his article '150 Years of Chiropodial Literature 1785 - 1935' (The Chiropodist March 1950) Henry Trill wrote 'Mr W Seelig of Birmingham most likely knows more than anyone on this subject'. But had it not been for the rise of Nazism, my father's career would have taken a very different course. He was born in 1898 in Lauenburg, Pommerania, in the eastern part of the German Reich given to Poland in the post-WW2 settlement.
