Most of SKB money will go to town not picked for repository

SKB will invest 2 billion kronor (US$244.8 million) in thentwo Swedish municipalities being considered for a finalnspent fuel repository, with 75% of the money going to thencommunity not chosen for the facility.nThe Swedish Nuclear Fuel & Waste Management Co.,nSKB, and its owners Vattenfall, E.On, Forsmarks Kraftgruppnand OKG signed a preliminary investment agreement withnthe towns of Oskarshamn and Oesthammar on April 7.nOskarshamn is home to the nuclear plant of the same namenand Oesthammar to Forsmark. The agreement requiresnapproval by both municipal councils and SKB’s board. OKGnoperates the Oskarshamn plant, majority owned by E.Onnand Fortum. Forsmarks Kraftgrupp operates Forsmark, majoritynowned by Vattenfall.
