Uranium producers Energy Fuels, Ur-Energy report net loss in second quarter

US uranium producers Energy Fuels and Ur-Energy both reported netlosses in their respective second-quarter earnings reports releasedAugust 2.Energy Fuels reported a net loss of $9.3 million in the second quarter,compared with net income of $7.1 million in second-quarter 2018.The company attributed its net loss primarily to an impairment toinventories of $4.9 million as a result of low uranium prices and itsdecision not to sell any uranium product during the quarter.Energy Fuels produced 19,000 lb U3O8 in the second quarter, lessthan half of the 39,000 lb produced in the same period last year. Thecompany said it had cut back its production because the incrementalcosts exceed the value of the uranium recovered.
