China’s Jiangsu Guolu High-Tech AluminumnMonday began trial runs at its newn150,000 mt/year aluminum sheet/stripnplant in Huai’an City, in the southern provincenof Jiangsu, a company source saidnTuesday. “We are now producing on a trialnbasis, and expect to start formal [commercial]noperations around late September ornearly October,” she said. “We haven’t setnan output target this year as it will dependnon the progress of our operations,” shenadded. “Initially, our aluminum sheet/stripnproducts will be sold just in the domesticnmarket, but once our operations havenbecome stable, we shall also considernexporting some to overseas markets,” thensource said. The plant, which cost Yuann1.62 billion ($260 million) to build, mainlynproduces aluminum sheet/strip productsnfor the automobile, aeronautical, constructionnand shipbuilding industries, and lightnindustrial products packaging sector. Uponnfull operation of the plant, it is expectednto generate an annual sales revenue ofnYuan 5 billion, with taxes around Yuan 650nmillion.
