PJM West rises to mid-$40s/MWh

Mid-Atlantic dailies rose Friday with support from the regional grid operator calling for higher demand as hotter weather returns to the region. PJM West Hub on-peak shot up $12.50 to over $45/MWh for Monday delivery on the IntercontinentalExchange. PJM West Hub on-peak weekend packages were $33.50/MWh. The PJM Interconnection forecast demand to rise significantly, peaking near 108,675 MW Friday, 108,750 MW Saturday, 115,825 MW Sunday, 133,075 MW Monday and 138,800 MW Tuesday.
