MISO mitigation plan misfires, says NRG

Midcontinent Independent System Operator would be better served by addressing flaws with its outage coordination process than creating a new type of narrow constrained area to address temporary transmission constraints, the NRG Companies told FERC last week. On the recommendation of its independent market monitor, MISO in July proposed to extend its local market power mitigation efforts to address transitory but significant transmission constraints that are currently not covered under its tariff.
