Grid operators have voiced concern with a FERC proposal on thernallocation of real-time uplift costs, contending that the commissionrnmay have bit off more than it could chew in the pursuit of certain costrncausation principles.rnWhile given a variety of monikers and acronyms by regional gridrnoperators, uplift payments are used to make an energy supplier wholernwhen the supplier is not sufficiently compensated by market-clearingrnprices. Also called make-whole payments, uplift payments have beenrneyed by FERC and stakeholders as symptoms of broader priceformationrnissues.
