NYISO pitches data requirements, forecasting charge for grid-scale solar resources

With more solar projects expected to come online in New York, the state's grid operator has proposed market rule changes that would allow it to improve its solar generation forecasts and recover the costs of those forecasting services. New York Independent System Operator saw interest in utilityscale solar triple between 2016 and 2017, with the capacity of solar projects applying for interconnection to the bulk power system jumping to 881 MW in March 2017 from 233 MW in March 2016, according to NYISO's 2017 Power Trends report.
