ERCOT spot rises to the low $20s/MWh

Spot prices in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas gained slightly Monday in spite of falling load and weaker gas, while real-time prices spiked for a short time during morning ramp. ERCOT North Hub next-day power futures for Tuesday delivery advanced about $1.50 to the low $20s/MWh on the Intercontinental Exchange, about $6 below where the next-week on-peak package traded in the high $20s/MWh. ERCOT peakload was estimated to reach about 45 GW Monday, about 10% higher than Friday's forecast of 41 GW.
