US Interior takes steps to advance offshore wind in Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico

The US Interior Department said Oct. 28 it will propose an offshorewind lease sale off the Carolinas, initiate an environmental review ofthe Mayflower Wind project offshore Massachusetts and further assesscommercial interest in offshore wind leasing in the Gulf of Mexico.The Biden administration has set a goal of deploying 30 GW ofoffshore wind power capacity by 2030, which is a major increase fromthe 42 MW currently operating commercially.
