TVA, Facebook, RWE team up on 150-MW solar plant near Memphis, Tennessee

Germany’s RWE is joining with Facebook and the Tennessee ValleyAuthority to install a 150-MW solar facility near Memphis, Tennessee, tostart up in 2023, which would represent an 81% increase from thestate’s 185-MW current solar capacity.Facebook plans to use 110 MW of the Shelby County, Tennessee,facility’s output for its data center in Gallatin, Tennessee.Construction is to start in mid-2022, and operations should start inlate 2023. RWE will own and operate the plant with a long-term powerpurchase agreement with the TVA. Construction is expected to costabout $140 million.
