Legislation could emerge, as soon as the summer, in North Carolinathat encompasses regulatory reforms and other initiatives to helpDuke Energy Corp. meet the state's carbon-reduction goals, executivessaid May 10."We are now entering the middle phase of the legislative longsession and the legislative process, including opportunities tointroduce new legislation, is expected to continue into the summermonths," Duke Energy Chair, President and CEO Lynn Good said on thecompany's first-quarter 2021 earnings call. "We continue to seemomentum from a broad range of stakeholders to make progress onthese objectives in 2021 and we remain optimistic for comprehensiveenergy legislation this year, aligned with our shared goals of generationtransition and regulatory reforms needed to enable that change."
