Largest solar facility in Louisiana becomes operational; hailed as start of renewables build-out

Entergy Louisiana said Oct. 21 that the “largest” solar facility in the state-the 50-MW Capital Region Solar facility in West Baton Rouge Parish, has begun serving customers. Entergy Louisiana, a subsidiary of Entergy Corp., is buying the power from the solar project under a 20-year power purchase agreement signed with owner Helios Infrastructure that went into effect Oct. 9. The project was built by Arizona-based DEPCOM Power, and consists of approximately 197,000 solar panels occupying about 560 acres of land near Port Allen, located on the west bank of the Mississippi River.
