Eastern US ISOs have over 50 GW of gas　and oil projects in interconnection queues

PJM Interconnection, ISO New England and the New York IndependentSystem collectively have over 50 GW of natural gas and oil powergeneration projects in their interconnection queues at a time whenseveral states are looking to eliminate the use of these fuels.The largest market, PJM, leads the way with roughly three quartersthe volume of potential fossil fuel projects as the other two gridoperators combined. PJM has over 40 GW of mostly natural gasprojects queueing up for power grid interconnection.Any resource that wants to connect to a regional power grid mustprogress through a formal interconnection process. Not every resource willultimately connect to the grid, but the queues provide a view of the level ofmarket participants’ interest in various power generation resources.
