摘要

A new hydrogen production technology under development in California and Japan could help dodge emerging challenges related pipeline distribution – currently one of the most significant obstacles to the fuel’s market development. The proprietary waste conversion technology developed by Ways2H uses a gasification process to yield a syngas from organic compost and plastics that can be further refined into pure hydrogen. What makes the process potentially transformative is its compact and transportable size, which could allow for distributed production by individual end users. “Advanced gasification has specific features that make it scalable, reliable and significantly different from what is currently being used on the market,” Ways2H CEO Jean-Louis Kindler said in a recent interview with S&P Global Platts. Ways2H plans to deliver a pilot-scale production unit in Japan this summer and in California by October.
