PJM Tracker: Power prices fall along with natural gas, demand

PJM Interconnection wholesale power prices in August were generally down month on month and year on year, with lower peakload levels and natural gas prices, an S&P Global Platts analysis showed. The AEP-Dayton Hub's average day-ahead on-peak locational marginal price fell 22.9% year on year to average $28.33/MWh for August, and trended down 14.2% from July, when prices averaged $33.01/MWh. This location had the largest month-on-month decrease among the hubs included in this analysis. Real-time on-peak was highest August 5, reaching $37.64/MWh, while the lowest level was $18.61/MWh August 25.
