New York seeks extension of solar incentive program

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority wants to extend an existing solar incentive program, saying the move would help the state meet its goal of having 6 GW of distributed solar operational by 2025. The distributed solar target was included in New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, legislation Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed in July. It calls for a carbon-free power system by 2040. NYSERDA November 25 asked the state Public Service Commission to authorize another $573 million to support the new distributed solar goal and extend the NY-Sun Program through 2025 (03-E-0188 and 14-M-0094).
